Airalo is the name most travellers reach for first, and it earned that: it is the most recognised eSIM brand there is. Roamaly is smaller and works differently.

What we can promise is that every Roamaly figure here was read from our own catalogue on 28 October 2026 and is dated, and that we do not quote an Airalo price we have not verified. Where we would need a number we cannot stand behind, we say so rather than inventing one.

What we actually sell

It is worth being precise about this, because the short version people repeat — "Airalo does bundles, Roamaly does day passes" — is not true of us.

Roamaly sells both shapes. On Europe, 5 of the 15 plans are Day Passes and 10 are fixed bundles. On India, 5 of 17 are Day Passes and 12 are fixed bundles (read 28 October 2026).

• A Day Pass gives you a daily allowance across a chosen number of days. Useful when your usage is steady and you want a predictable per-day cost.
• A fixed bundle gives you a total amount of data valid for a period, with no daily cap inside it. Useful when your usage is lumpy — a heavy transit day borrows from a quiet one.

None of our plans is unlimited. Not on Europe, not on India, not on any of the seven destinations we sampled: 0 unlimited rows out of 121 plans. Every Roamaly plan is metered one way or the other.

What we can say about Airalo's shape comes from one source in our own records: our design team's review of Airalo's iOS app on 13 September 2026, which found packages grouped under validity headings — 7, 15 and 30 days for Singapore — and a Standard/Unlimited segment with a dedicated Unlimited tab for that country.

That is the extent of it. We have not priced their plans or counted their countries, and we are not going to guess at either.

Where Roamaly wins

• Both shapes, one provider. Steady usage takes a Day Pass; lumpy usage takes a fixed bundle where the data pools. You are not choosing a provider in order to get a plan shape.
• Multi-country Europe. One plan, 34 countries, no border decisions.
• No app to buy. Purchase in a browser, QR by email, manage in the dashboard.
• Transparent limits. You know your allowance before you buy, whether it is daily or total, and we tell you plainly that we have no unlimited plan at all.

Where Airalo wins, and we are not going to pretend otherwise

• Trust at a glance. Airalo has 4.0 from 40,628 Trustpilot reviews. Roamaly has no Trustpilot profile at all. If you are choosing between two providers you have not used, that is a real asymmetry and it is not in our favour.
• Brand recognition. Being the default answer has value when you are buying something that must work in a foreign airport.
• If you want unlimited. We do not sell one anywhere — 0 unlimited plans across the 121 we sampled on seven destinations. Airalo's iOS app carried an Unlimited tab for Singapore in September. That is the end of the argument for a heavy user.

How to choose

Steady light use, one country, want the better-known name — Airalo is a reasonable choice. Varied use, several countries, or a preference for buying in a browser — that is what we built.

Should I buy a Day Pass or a fixed bundle?

We sell both, so this is a choice within Roamaly rather than between providers.

A fixed bundle usually looks cheaper per gigabyte, but only if you use all of it, and the data pools across the whole period — good for uneven trips. A Day Pass costs more per gigabyte and buys predictability: a known daily figure, reset each morning, which suits steady usage.

The honest comparison is like with like. A one-gigabyte bundle spread over seven days is about 143 MB a day, which is below what most travellers use once maps are running. Size the bundle against the daily figure you would actually pick, not against the headline price.

What happens when a Roamaly Day Pass runs out for the day?

The allowance resets the following day. If you need more within the same day, buy another plan or top up an eligible eSIM from your dashboard. There is no overage charge, because there is nothing to overrun into.

Can I have a Roamaly eSIM and an Airalo eSIM on the same phone?

Yes. Modern phones hold several eSIM profiles, and you choose which carries data. People do exactly this when testing a new provider on a trip where the old one already works.

Does a Roamaly eSIM give me a local phone number?

No. Roamaly's travel eSIMs are data-only; your own number stays live on your home SIM, so you keep receiving calls and texts throughout. We have not checked what Airalo's plans include on this point, so we do not state it — their own site will.

Which has better coverage?

In most countries this is the wrong question, because neither provider operates a network. Both resell capacity on local carriers, so in practice you are often on the same masts. Differences show up in which carrier a provider has contracted in a given country, not in a general "better coverage" claim — and we are not going to make one we cannot evidence.

Do I need an app to use Roamaly?

No. You buy in a browser, the QR code arrives by email, and the dashboard runs in a browser too.
